Most of you know our Receptionist, Jazmin Zikri. She has been working at CrossFit Hoboken since January saving money in order to pay for her college tuition. Jazmin is attending Fairleigh Dickinson University this fall, studying business. Unfortunately due to the high tuition costs; Jazmin is having trouble covering expenses. Jazmin is a very talented and motivated person; it would be a shame to see her not go to college due to the expenses.
Therefore we are going to have a Fundraising Competition on October 15. This competition/fundraiser’s purpose is to help raise money to cover the remaining balance of Jazmin’s tuition and support her future. By participating in this event you will be assured that Jazmin acquires the quality education that she might not have been able to receive without your support. Give back to someone who helps us on a daily basis.

With roads still flooded in Hoboken we will be monitoring the situation to determine when we will be reopening. As of now, we will plan on canceling all Monday Morning classes (including Bootcamp).
Again, it will be hard to determine until later today, when we will resume normal schedules. Please be safe and stay tuned for updates.
Thank you,
CFH Staff

As all of you know by now hurricane Irene is unfortunately heading straight toward the north east and is projected to be a category 1 by time it connects with the tri-state area. This means winds over 75 MPH and torrential rain for the duration of the storm as well as a high possibility for flooding and electrical failure in Hoboken. For the safety of our members and newcomers we have decided to cancel regular and beginner classes for Saturday and Sunday. Depending on the amount of flooding in the area and the length of time it takes to drain, Crossfit Hoboken may also remain closed for some of Monday as well. There will be a follow up email/post on the gym website to confirm which classes are still available on Monday. We understand that many people look forward to the classes on weekend and apologize for the inconvenience but we care about keeping our members alive before fit. Stay safe this weekend and we will see you when this mess gets cleared up.

For anyone that wants in. Some of us will be meeting at Pier “A” tomorrow morning at 10 am for a workout. This is not an official class and will not be deducted from anyone’s membership.

On September 3, 2011 CrossFit gyms across the nation and world will gather together to honor our heroes killed in action August 5, 2011 with a workout in an effort to raise funds for the families affected by this tragedy. All funds received will go to these families through the Navy SEAL Foundation.
The Workout
The workout promises to be a unique Hero WOD. 31 of America’s bravest have made the ultimate sacrifice for our sake. We can all agree that no workout will ever be enough to say thank you, but among this community it almost seems to be our version of the “moment of silence”, a small way we can honor the those that have gone before us. We hope you’ll join us for this moment of silence.
In regards to the specifics of the Hero WOD, it is still in the process of being created. We will provide more information as it becomes ready. Thank you!
Get Involved
- Register for the workout here– $31 gets you the workout & a t-shirt
- Find a local CF affiliate hosting the event. Ahem..
- Show up on September 3rd and honor our heroes. We will begin at 12 noon.
- Not interested in a workout? You can still donate by clicking the donations tab above, however if you’d like to receive a t-shirt you must register for the event.
Who Benefits
- 100% of proceeds will go to families immediately affected through the Navy SEAL Foundation.

If you haven’t heard or seen the poster in the gym, the Sport Series is an exciting new CF event aimed at taking CrossFitters out of their comfort zones and putting their skills to the test outside the box – literally. On Saturday, August 13th the CFSS will be having an event/WOD in Queens. If you haven’t tried Stand Up Paddle boarding, you are missing out. Come hang out and make a beach day of it.
The registration fee includes equipment rental, all you can eat and drink(beer) and a WOD that they throw in for free. Here is info about the event. It is rumored there is a video of Craig and Stefan SUP at the CF Games. Stay tuned.
About the Sports Series WOD Stand Up Paddleboards (SUP) presented by Hobie
The CrossFit Sports Series Event presented by Hobie Stand Up Paddleboards is a chance to check out the latest craze called Stand Up Paddleboarding. It won’t take long for first time paddlers to get hooked with the sport as our experts will offer pointers and guidance on the water. After that, you’ll be put to the test with a wet and wild WOD with a little bit of SUP thrown in-a day not to be missed.
