Hey everyone! We are running a 30 day trial with WODIFY. All members should have received an email with a username and password. Please take the time to watch this video. I know I know its 11 minutes but depending on the feedback and response we may end up replacing beyond the whiteboard with this new software.

Is it possible to transfer Beyond the Whiteboard data to Wodify? The Wodify lay out and phone app are cool enough, but not having my past 2 years performance doesn’t really seem worth the switch.

  2. MC says:

Ditto – there’s no way I’m transferring 4 years manually…uh, and I deleted the email before opening it thinking it was junk. Any chance you can send it again?

  3. Moe says:

    Did not receive the email.
And agreed, I’m for it if data can be transferred…

  4. Craig says:

They are manually doing a data transfer. They said they will be doing as much as they can as fast as possible. They are transferring the girls and max weightlifting movements only though.

I see no benefit to switching to wodify. It does exactly the same stuff as beyond the whiteboard. The moble version of BTWB is fine, plus on many smartphones, you can access the full version of the website. All of us have data on workouts other then baselines (girls) and max efforts such as personal favorites, travel workouts, or just workouts we want to improve on. Plus many of us do workouts from the main site and other affiliates, which are on BTWB. This is a good way for us to compare ourselves to outside gyms. No one wants to lose all of this data. No need to change something that isn’t broken.

I’m not sold on WODify either. BTWB has many more features that I use all the time, their library of WODs is great when I’m away and want to get a workout in and it tracks everything in much greater detail.

      1 vote for BTWB.

      HEy Everyone,
The motivation is simple. Increase usage. After 4 + years with beyond the whiteboard we have about 35 active users in the gym. During the next 30 days we will see if we can improve that. I want our folks to keep track of workouts. Anyone who has a ton of data on beyond the whiteboard there is no need to be concerned with losing that. It will always be there for you. I do slightly disagree that beyond the whiteboard isn’t broken. It is way to analytical for the average user. This makes logging time significantly longer and more complicated per user. Really when was the last time any of you checked your average power output? I mean, I get that that is really cool but most people just want to use this system as a log book. Also, if we get folks on this, the whiteboard on Wodify is very cool. You’ll be able to see the scores from the day right next to your old scores. In closing I will say that, like you guys, we are not sold yet either. This is just a trial run but during the next 30 days I encourage all of you to at least try it. This way we can all make an educated decision at the end.

What’s the motivation Craig? Is there something about WODify you like better? Cost?

  7. Dave says:

Can you resend the email? I have not received one yet. Thanks.

I’m open to changing our logging system…we all have the comfort of BTWB but its possible that WODIFY will end up being a more efficient and user friendly system…no harm in trying it out.

  8. Tim R says:

I agree that BTWB has a LOT more detail than 99% of people use. I really have no desire to track what kind of shoes I’m wearing during a workout, or let everyone in the BTWB world know every detail about my diet… but that’s just me. That said, it does have a LOT of really good detail, particularly the ease of designing and tracking your own workouts. We’ll see what WODIFY brings on that front…

If you really want to increase usage, I think it’s something that needs to be ingrained from fundamentals on, regardless of the platform. If people slack off and don’t care to track their results, that’s their problem.

  9. Alba says:

Sorry Craig, I’m trying to keep an open mind but so far I’m not impressed w/Wodify. It seems like a scaled down version of BTW. BTW seems much more comprehensive, user friendly & like everyone pointed out, it contains all of our historical data. BTW may not be perfect but overall I think it’s pretty good. Just my 2 cents…

  10. Tim R says:

Another issue I’ve noticed, the display on WODIFY is always in “time” format unless you drill down to an individual’s score… so on rep workouts, the whiteboard view is useless. Not impressed, yet.

  11. Matt A says:

I have been a very active user of BTWB since fundamentals and no compliants on its functionality from me. Very easy to log results by being linked up to the WOD blog and relatively easy to navigate (could be better there). WODify definitely looks more polished but that’s the only advantage I see. So I tend to agree with a lot of the opinions above, but I second Craig’s objective of getting members more involved with posting results. It’d be cool to see a ton of names on the results each night.

  12. Tom says:

If you go to the log in screen for Wodify and click on “I forgot my password” (http://wodify.com/wodify/MyInfo.aspx) your user ID should be your email and a password will be sent to your email. Go back to Wodify and log in from using the password sent to your email. Yo can then of course change the password once you are logged into Wodify to something you would normally use. As for what I see playing around some in the app so far I like the old BTWB better….but I am going to give this a good trial.

  13. Eric D says:

A basic thing I’m not sure you can do w/ Wodify is post your results from yesterdays WOD if you forget to do it.

I like how BTWB shows you all the workouts for the day, week, month etc. Wodify seems easier to use, but it’s too scaled down IMO.

  14. Jay says:

The Wodify leader board is pretty cool, though that is about it. The biggest issue I have with it, aside from it not having all of my data from BTWB, is not being able to put in my own workouts. It seems like you can only choose from a list of named workouts and a few running and rowing distances. Also, for the strength portion, you can only put in your max set (with whatever number of reps). You can’t put in multiple sets (for example a 3X5 back squat) unless you create a separate performance for each set. This is going to get confusing (when you start to have a lot of data) the next time you want to do a 3X5 back squat because all of the back squat performances, regardless of the number of reps, are listed on the same page. So you would have to remember the exact date that you did the 3X5 back squats.

I really don’t see Wodify as being a good record keeping tool. Its nice seeing how everyone did that day in an easy to view page, but BTWB is much better in being able to track your own performances over an extended period of time.

  15. Joanne says:

    I vote BTWB.

Wodify def has a better look…and i like the layout of the leaderboard. BUT it does not seem as “user-friendly” as BTWB.

You can see reuslts of others on BTWB if you click on Crossfit Hoboken, view all activity, etc. Its not set up as pristine as Wodify…but it works if only people would log their scores/results!!

I also dont want to lose the workouts ive kept for the past 3 years! I frequently go back and check them…and it would suck to not be able to see them anymore.

I have a feeling there will be a lot of different “workout tracking sites” (is that what they’re called???) coming soon…so lets keep our eyes and ears open.
