If you aren’t sure why you’re here, you are only getting part of the CrossFit benefit. If you come in with an empty mind, with no intention or sense of purpose, you will be shocked when things get hard, and they will get hard. This unexpected shock will deter you from improving if you allow it. Without a prior plan it will be tough to combat this very emotional experience since human beings instinctively prefer comfort to stress. This is why having goals and objectives is important. It blinds us to distraction and allows us to press through the hard times.

Next time you step into Crossfit Hoboken, take a look at the new Goal Boards . Realize that you have an intention, goal, dream, purpose… something you are working to achieve. Just like you, every other person doing the WOD by your side at Crossfit Hoboken has their own goal in mind. So push towards your goals, and cheer on your friends as they work towards theirs. I challenge each of you to think of your own goal! Find Stephanie or a front desk attendant and have them take a Polaroid picture of you. Write your name and date on the top of the Polaroid and your goal on the bottom. You have 8 weeks from that date to achieve your goal!

Well written Steph. Telling other people your goals ensures that you follow through with them. I may end up on the goals board permanently, something new every 8 weeks.

Nice write up. I’ve got so many goals I don’t know where to start: pull ups without bands, toes to bar, double unders, etc. Gotta knock them out one at a time…
