By Coach Meris:
IF I CAN DO IT, SO CAN YOU
I understand that for a lot of you the open is intimidating. It is for me too. Over the past several weeks I have felt nauseous, become extremely sensitive to smells and had a way harder time breathing. In short, I’m pregnant! Pull-ups/dips/muscle ups are tougher than they were a month ago and I expect that trend to continue. However, I don’t get to be a part of a team too often, especially one filled with people that I truly respect so I’m not going to let this opportunity pass me by. The truth about being a part of a team is that without the benchwarmers and role players the MVP and starters are nothing
I have signed up for the open to help out the CFH family and have a good time. I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that I will not be going to regionals, I may not even be able to make a positive contribution to the team in terms of score. That isn’t what it is about for me. For me it is about being a part of a team, even if I won’t be nailing the muscle up that puts us over the edge, but maybe I will be able to help my teammates in other ways. I plan to do the wods as soon as they are posted and share whatever insight I gain with my teammates. Maybe somebody can learn from a mistake I make or replicate something I do correctly.
Don’t care about being part of a team? I have my own selfish reasons too. Maybe a WOD will drop where I can kick ass, how freaking cool would it be if I get to rock a WOD? I probably won’t even be in the top 10 but if I can sneak into the top 20, 30 or even 50 in the region and I will feel awesome for that 1 WOD.
How often do you get to compete with the very best? Ever wish you could take part in an NFL practice? Have Cy Young pitch you a baseball just for the chance to connect, even though you will likely whiff? This is your chance to do the same WOD as the very best in the world and to know exactly how you stack up. It really is pretty cool.
If you enjoy being a part of something bigger than you, supporting you friends/wod buddies and doing some sweet wods or just want to know where you stand you should participate in the open. These days $20 doesn’t normally go very far, but this time it does. Stop making excuses and start making history.

Yeah, how can you say “no” to signing up when a pregnant woman is telling you that she can do it? My man card can’t handle that. Sign up completed.
