My apologies to the 530 and 615 classes, the order of “Angie” was written incorrectly on the website this morning, sit-ups come before squats… sooo, I guess you guys have to come in later on and do it over. For everyone else, problem corrected. That is all, over. pshchshchshchshchsh
Angie is an awesome WOD but has high potential for hand rips. If you are going to tape your hands please do it BEFORE class starts. If you rip your hands (that’s ok it happens) please make sure you clean the bar when you are finished. I’m excited to see you guys kick Angie’s ass tonight!
ha, I wish I knew that before. Every time I shake someones hand at work I have to bite my cheek not to cry.
Awesome job on the pull-ups today Elona!! You kicked butt!
Here is an article about CrossFit in Mens Health. He makes a few good points, especially about coaching Oly lifts, but otherwise, I think it’s a really biased article.
http://www.menshealth.com/fitness/cult-crossfit
Someone actually posted a link to the writer’s website, and it doesn’t seem like he is a person that would typically go to any gym, nether the less a CrossFit one.
Where have you been?
Trying to avoid seeing you, especially when you are wearing those American flag shorts that are two sizes too small.
Wow, so the guy eventually quit CrossFit after 3 months because he came in last in a WOD after 11 women, he lost 7 lbs when he wasn’t trying to, and no one asked him what his goals were? Interesting.
I’m fairly surprised Men’s Journal published this…besides being poorly written, it reads like a pathetic persons attempt at validating his own failure by delegitimizing CF. It offers no mention of any positive stories behind Crossfit, which clearly represent the majority of any simple Google search. He follows up quotes from CF supporters with his own unjustified claims of lunacy based on their level of enthusiasm.
Is he aware how many people injure themselves in any given day at any specialized gym? With 3,000 affiliates and about 10 WODs a day at each, over the past five years, and all he can find is one incident of Rhabdo and a college football team that experienced injury as a result of workouts. But wait, “It wasn’t a CrossFit workout, but it was in the same ballpark.”
I’ve also never heard someone manage to put a negative spin on positive encouragement. Sorry you were emasculated dude, start doing mental WODs with your therapist. Even more irresponsible is the fact he is using a sample size of 1 affiliate as evidence for a larger statement about the entire sport. He couldn’t do some research at the 5 others he says are in his hometown? Without even going into the Crossfit reasons why this guy has his head up his ass, you can tear this article apart a thousand different ways based on the unsubtle level of bias running rampant through every sentence.
If I gave everything in life a 3 month attempt at something, used my “tragically flat ass” as a measurement stick and then gave up, I’d probably run a 20 minute mile and be homeless. Or a crappy writer for Men’s Journal.
i love CF, but if u look at cults and how members start talking enthusiastically about their new found friends laced with intermittent jargon at quick glance i can agree w/ haters on how it can seem cultey.
I think his last statement pretty much sums up where he is in life.
“What have you heard about Zumba?”
Nuff said.
Nice discussion going on here
I’m just surprised that no one commented on the sex article… I found it pretty entertaining.
