What makes Crossfit different than every other fitness regiment out there? Well, where do I begin? The answer is as long as it is vast. To answer that question, let’s look at how we measure our progress. We have a long list of choices when it comes to measuring progress…
- Body Composition
- Weight Loss
- Body Measurements
- Body Fat Percentage
- Dress Size
- Energy/Overall Feeling
We don’t have any mirrors, so body composition is out. We don’t have a scale, so weight loss is out. We don’t use calipers or body fat measurements, so body fat is out too. We are not tailors, so body measurements and dress size are out. You could tell us that you have more energy and feel good, but that is pretty subjective.
That said, the answer is we measure PROGRESS by PERFORMANCE. Performance is based on your ability to do the same amount of work faster, to produce more power output, and lift more weight. Since fitness is defined by performance, it is critical that me measure our progress by recording our times, weight, and rounds for the prescribed workouts. This serves as a benchmark to tell us that we are doing better.
At Crossfit Hoboken, we take it one-step further, by supply members the ability to track online their progress at Beyond the Whiteboard. We even have computers waiting for your sweaty selves post workout!
Are you recording your scores? Have you made your profile? What are you waiting for?
Oh! By the way, a healthy by product of performing better is looking better naked…just saying…
Beyond the Whiteboard is great, but it’s frustrating when I do well in class and then there is no posted WOD on the website. (See Friday the 3rd for an example) Is there any rhyme or reason as to when WODs get entered and when they don’t?
I think that WODs don’t get posted when they are one-off exercises; strange mixes and not named workouts. That makes some sense, I suppose. Just checking.
The WODs for the week have been entered. We have had some glitches with BTWB, but you can always enter the workout in if the link the posted workout is not working.
