For the second time in 2 weeks I noticed an athlete push herself physically and mentally during a WOD beyond what anybody would expect. During Badger Evelyn could have easily scaled the squat cleans but, without any prompting from a coach, she put the RX weight on and got ready to kick some Badger butt. It took her a little longer than some people in the class but she also pushed herself to her limits. As I watched other people clip through the Badger with faster with lighter weights I was blown away by Evelyn’s resolve. Afterwards I gave her a high five and she mentioned that she also hated running. What a badass move to show up, and to follow through the way she did was incredible.

Flash forward to last night during Grace. I was teaching fundamentals and I see Evelyn surrounded by about 10 guys cheering for her while she is plugging away at Grace. Later I learned that she was using heavier weights than some of the men. Badass! Sure it took her longer and she could have scaled it down so she could finish with or before the boys, but she didn’t and I love that decision.

Evelyn has made amazing gains since I first met her in form, mental toughness and strength. She is constantly pushing herself and quietly becoming one of the strongest women in the gym. Imagine the gains you could make if you pushed yourself the way Evelyn does.

Way to go Evelyn, you are a serious Badass!
